Brimex Energy

Brimex Energy is located in the city of Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco. It was formed as a joint venture between Grupo Serrano (Mexican company) and Farmergy (English company), driven by the European Union’s Low Carbon Business Action programme.

Have you ever thought that your organic waste can produce biogas, electricity, CO2 and biomethane which can power your vehicle, heat your home and be useful in industrial processes?

Our waste, the garbage we throw in the dumpster every day, the sewage water from towns and cities, and agricultural, livestock or industrial waste, can be recycled to obtain a high-value fuel.

How does it work?

Through a process called anaerobic digestion, in which organic waste is decomposed in the absence of oxygen, giving off biogas and a by-product, the digestate, which can be used, for example, as a soil improver. This reduces environmental impact.

Biogas is an alternative and less polluting fuel. It consists mainly of methane and CO2, although it also contains other compounds.

The biogas is subjected to a purification process called “biogas upgrading” to achieve a homogeneous energy suitable for use. During this process, biogas is cleaned in order to adapt it to the appropriate conditions of employment. WE OBTAIN TWO COMPOUNDS:

Biomethane, a green gas whose composition, established by regulation, contains at least 95% methane and makes it equivalent and interchangeable to classic natural gas, being of biological origin.

This energy can be connected to the gas distribution network and used to heat homes, power industries and propel vehicles, cars, buses and trucks at a value of 50% less than fossil fuels such as diesel or gasoline.

CO2 is a gas mainly used in the food industry, agriculture and livestock, health, among others, being also of a biological origin.

In short, by using these gases we can achieve a more sustainable environment because it is renewable, the power source is the recycling of our own waste, it is a local resource, it avoids the need to import energy, it can be injected into the natural gas transport and distribution network and be used for the same purposes while using a clean gas with neutral CO2 emissions.

It therefore helps us to improve the environmental, social and economic management of society. It favors the use of local energies to create a more low-carbon circular economy, helps companies and the community in general to reduce carbon emissions established in the coming years.
